Summary: Gwen has the green light from Jack, but she still needs permission from her other half. A double drabble.

There was no denying the look of displeasure on Rhys' face by the time Gwen had finished talking.

'It's just a work thing, Rhys,' she added. 'Jack already said yes. And I've booked the hotel.'

'Oh, aye,' Rhys replied, folding his arms and looking decidedly more confrontational at the mention of Gwen's boss. 'And when we're you going to tell me? Last to bloody know as usual,' he muttered, unable to look her in the eye anymore. 'Couldn't book it for two, could you? Or is this one of those work things where Jack goes with you?'

'Rhys, it's not like that,' she pleaded, putting a gentle hand on his arm. 'There's this case see, a young man who's dead, but no one else can be bothered worrying about the why. I mean, hit by a car and killed, that's how he died, but why was he out there? I had to beg Jack to let me have the weekend to go and investigate.' She forced him to look at her. 'It's important, Rhys. His mum deserves to understand.'

Rhys gave a tired sigh. 'Yeah, alright. You bloody coppers never give up do you?'

She smiled and kissed him. 'Never.'
