Summary: Ned implores King Robert to have mercy on his enemies. A double drabble.
Ned turned the wine goblet in his hand on the table. Robert was on his third -or was it fourth- and the king had commanded him to drink. Robert no longer seemed capable of making any decision without a goblet in hand, or a cudgel.
'Only one head left on the dragon now,' Robert declared, pouring more Dornish Red into his goblet. 'Rhaegar is dead. Viserys is dead. All we're left with is the wretched girl. She should be the easiest to pick off.'
'She's surrounded by an army of Dothraki,' Ned reminded his liege. 'I doubt anyone could lay a finger on her,' for which he was quietly pleased.
'I've got a man on the inside,' Robert declared, drops of wine spilling clumsily from his lips and into his thick wiry beard. 'He'll do the job for a royal pardon.'
'Who would, Your Grace?'
'Jorah Mormont. You remember him. I had him banished for trading in slaves. Who would've thought I could still make use of him.'
'Perhaps we ought not,' Ned insisted. 'It was a long time ago that the Targaryens were any threat. She's just a girl. Have mercy, Your Grace.'
'Death will be a bloody mercy.'
