Title: Corrections necessary
Author: m_findlow
Characters: Jack, Ianto
Rating: PG
Challenge: 625 - Dash/dashed at tw100
Notes: Jack and Ianto like to correct one another's errors. A double drabble.
'Here you are,' Ianto declared, setting the final report down on Jack’s desk. It looked impressive now that he’d had it all properly bound and printed. UNIT could chew on that for a while.
He picked it up and flicked through it, focusing on the executive summary that Ianto had insisted on proof reading. Even after all these years he still liked to have a final flourish of red pen on reports, especially when there was a chance someone was actually going to read it. 'I can’t see any differences.'
'Oh, there is.' Ianto leaned over him and pointed to his amendment. 'I replaced that set of parentheses you had with an em dash. That’s the more grammatically correct way to present it. Especially since you were trying to emphasise the point.'
'Em dash? Seriously?'
'It’s basic grammar, Jack. What did you learn in school?'
'I learnt how to take apart and put back together a standard B Class transporter and how to use seventeen different kinds of alien weaponry. What did you learn in school?'
Ianto’s jaw clenched. 'I learnt not to argue about grammar with a man who knows how to use seventeen different kinds of alien weapons.'
