Characters: Gwen, Ianto, Jack, Anwen
Rating: PG
Challenge: 626 - House at tw100
Notes: It turns out Jack isn't quite as house-trained as Ianto would like. A triple drabble.
Gwen sighed as she dumped the teabags into the two cups on the bench. 'Ianto, this is the first moment of peace I've had in this house in I can't tell you how long.'
He smiled at the statement. 'You get peace in the house, I get a reprieve from Jack, and he gets to run outside and play with someone who's mentally about the same age,' he said, referring to Anwen who had just had her third birthday. 'It's a win win all around.'
Gwen poured the water from the kettle and smiled. More Sunday afternoons like this would be good. Her gazed drifted out past Ianto to the windows facing the yard. 'He's good with kids,' she remarked. 'He'd make a great dad.'
Ianto kept his eyes cast down into the depths of his tea. 'Yeah.'
'You too,' she added. 'You could always adopt, or use a surrogate. There's nothing stopping you from having a family.'
'Just the small matter of Torchwood,' he replied.
Gwen shrugged it off an as excuse. 'We made it work. You should think about it if you're serious.'
'I suppose,' he said, sounding a little more convinced than before. She knew they'd both be great parents. Who cared about convention?
'Help!' came the sound of Jack's voice from the yard. Both of them bolted from the kitchen, afraid something had happened to Anwen.
Gwen reached them first, finding Anwen standing by the cubby house. She quickly checked her over but she seemed fine. 'What's wrong?'
'Uncle Jack stuck,' Anwen said.
Ianto leaned down to look through the tiny doorway. 'How on earth did you get in there?'
'Anwen wanted to serve me tea. Now I can't get back out.'
Ianto looked at Gwen. 'I think we might give it a few more years.'
