Challenge: 628 - Fruit at tw100
Notes: Not all alien gifts appear as innocent as they're intended. A double drabble.
Ianto eyed the crate by the door nervously as he picked up the phone and dialed Jack.
'Ianto! To what do I owe the pleasure?'
'There's a uh… package here for you. Only I'm not sure it's safe. I've left it outside the tourist office door just in case it's alien or a weapon.'
There was a pause on the other end of the line. 'A weapon?'
'We have upset a few people lately.'
'That's true. Let me come up and take a look. Don't go opening it or touching it until I get there.'
'Yes, sir.'
Jack was quick to arrive, slipping through the door to the tourist office. He strode across the small space and poked his head out. 'I see why you thought it looked suspicious.'
'Most our mail doesn't come in thick steel lined boxes,' Ianto agreed.
Jack flipped open his wrist strap and ran a scan, before reaching down to open it up. 'Relax,' he said when Ianto looked concerned. 'It's safe.' He flipped open the top and showed Ianto the contents.
'What is that?'
'The alien equivalent of a fruit basket. Those Arcateens from last week.'
'Why?'
'I think they forgot I couldn't die.'
