Jack sighed, wondering when he'd stopped being leader of Torchwood and started being a guy who had to negotiate. ‘Three days.’

‘Seven. I'd ask for two weeks but I know you won't agree to that. It's a week or nothing.’

Two weeks? He was crazy. Out of his mind. Of course there was no way Jack was going to give up two weeks. He'd be crawling up the walls in frustration after just a few days. Two weeks was totally out of the question. ‘Three days,’ he repeated, making the same offer. He wasn't stupid. If he gave up ground this early on, he'd end up conceding a whole lot more.

There was a distinct shaking of heads. ‘Five days. That's the absolute minimum I'm willing to accept.’

‘Three days.’ He hadn't been born yesterday. He was Jack Harkness, ex-Time Agent. He'd negotiated accords between nations who were ready to obliterate their entire planet rather than conceded an inch of territory.

‘Five. Don't even think of messing me about.’

Jack clenched his jaw. ‘Three days annual leave. I'll even sweeten the deal by offering to pay the airfare.’

Rhys grinned. ‘Deal. Beats the fast rail. Can't wait to tell Gwen.’
