Summary: Jack is desperate to save an important Torchwood artifact at all costs. A double drabble.
Jack panicked like he hadn't ever panicked before. He was used to thinking the hub was a safe place, where he could keep the things that were important to him without worrying that they might be broken or stolen. He hadn't counted on someone breaking out from the inside and taking them.
Watching Carys Fletcher with the heavy jar between her tiny hands made the bottom drop out of his stomach. The century had turned twice and some time soon he hoped, the Doctor - his Doctor - would come back so that they could reunite. That hand he'd stolen from Torchwood One was his only link to know when that might be. And now Carys was threatening to take it, or break it, or maybe both. He hadn't sacrificed over a hundred years to throw it all away now. Of all the things she could have grabbed, why did she have to take that?
'Put the jar down and nobody gets hurt!' he yelled as he chased her down the corridor leading to the tourist office. He wasn't necessarily going to keep that promise but she didn't have to know that. That jar and the hand inside it were beyond value.
