You know Christmas is on its way when...
Dec. 6th, 2020 08:00 pmThe tiny plastic pin holding your fridge door snaps as you gently open it and the whole main door falls off, whilst the top heavy top freezer door (also attached by same said plastic pin) then drops down and tries to break your arm as you're trying to hold the main door from spilling all its glass jars and milk. My arm just above the elbow is now very sore and bruised.
Lucky Mum was still at the table nearby when I yelled for help. The she yelled to Dad who did the very helpful thing of not turning up at all. Apparently when you yell, he takes that as a sign to keep on ignoring you, because yelling is not a signal for serious help. Useless twat.
Both doors are now taped to the fridge with gaffer tape until tomorrow. Not looking forward to trying to fix breakfast. We'll have to take off the top freezer door first, then the main door, just to get anything out, and then stick it all back together again. Lucky we haven't bought our food for Christmas yet as we often stockpile early.
And someone is going to have to go out and buy a new fridge - tomorrow. There's everybody's one Christmas present for this year.
Fuck you, karma.

I recommend one of those little ceramic fan heaters with the rotating body and presettable temperatures that flip on and off as needed. I got one prelockdown and so long as you keep the door shut it keeps everything nice and toasty and doesn't take long at all to warm up so you can even move it around with you from one room to the next.

Date: 2020-12-07 10:49 am (UTC)Oh, if only! I have a couple of electric heaters, but half the doors here don't close, the house is old and drafty, and even a heater doesn't make much difference. Temps went to -1C last night and won't get above 2 today but after that it looks like it should warm up by a few degrees. Keep your fingers crossed!
The way things are going, even if I can find someone to deal with the chimney it won't be until the new year. Good thing I don't bother much with Christmas these days.
