Summary: Ianto has been putting off the truth for far too long. A double drabble.

Rhiannon plonked herself down on the sofa next to Ianto, forcing him to look up from his book. It wasn't as if she was interrupting him. He must have reread the same page at least ten times, unable to concentrate on anything. He knew why was here, he just wasn't sure he was ready to talk about it yet.

‘Do we have to do this now?’ he asked.

‘Yes, we do,’ she replied, brooking no argument from him. ‘Unless you've got more important things to be doing like moping on the sofa pretending to read.’

He sighed. ‘Go on, then.’ Better they get this over with and move on.

‘You work for the government. What the hell kind of branch of the government deals with aliens and doesn't tell anybody?’

Ianto set his book to one side. ‘For a start, I don't work for the government.’

‘But you said-’

‘I lied to you, Rhi. Is that so hard to understand? And to answer your second question, the  kind of branch that the government likes to kill when they're afraid we're going to blow them wide open. And they nearly succeeded.’

She reached across and touched his knee. ‘Tell me everything.’
