Summary: Owen has his eyes shut when it comes to all things Tosh.
'We're off!' Gwen called out, shrugging on her leather jacket and pulling her hair out from under the collar. 'See you tomorrow!'
'See you,' Ianto replied, giving a little wave as he looked up momentarily from his desk.
'Oi!' Owen called out, as Tosh was still tugging on her own jacket. 'Where are you two off?'
'Just off for a drink,' Gwen replied.
'I'll come with you,' he said, already reaching for his wallet.
'Actually,' Tosh began, giving him a sympathetic smile, 'it's kind of a girl's only thing.'
'Eh?' Owen looked confused, switching his gaze between the pair of them.
'Girls, Owen,' Gwen said, enunciating the word as if he were slow. 'As in no boys allowed.'
Owen pulled a face. 'Since when is drinking a unisex event?'
'We have... girl stuff to discuss,' Gwen replied.
'Girl stuff,' Owen repeated, like it was a foreign concept. 'What, like hair and makeup and all that bollocks?'
'Yeah,' Gwen replied, trying to remember the last time she'd bothered to do anything with her hair, and failing. 'You'd be bored to death.'
'Try Bar 9T4,' Ianto piped up. 'I think they still do those nonalcoholic appletini things.'
'Thanks, Ianto,' Tosh said, smiling at him. 'I was going to ask if you knew and totally forgot.'
'Appletinis it is, then,' Gwen declared, shouldering her handbag. 'And it's a weeknight. We won't even be hungover tomorrow.'
'Have fun, ladies,' Jack called out, waving from his office door. 'Try not to break too many hearts.'
Owen watched, perplexed as they left arm in arm, already whispering to one another like teenagers. Probably comparing their favourite boy bands or something. 'What was all that about?' he asked, looking at Ianto for an answer.
Ianto caught the raised eyebrows from Jack standing several feet behind Owen and tried to school his own expression. Jack pointed at Owen and mouthed the words "he doesn't know?" whilst giving a dramatic shrug. Ianto resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Girl talk, nonalcoholic drinks, Tosh positively glowing and Gwen rushing her out of the hub to get all the gossip? It didn't take a genius to figure out she was pregnant, but apparently it did take more than a medical degree.
'I'm sure it's nothing Owen. Just a nice night out. They deserve one, don't you think?'
'S'pose,' he replied. 'How come we never do that?'
Ianto quirked an eyebrow at him. 'Girl talk?'
'No. Go out. Talk about football and pick up?'
'Probably because Jack doesn't understand football, and you're married.'
'Yeah, well, we could still have a drink, couldn't we?'
Ianto grabbed his files and began carrying them towards the door that lead to the lower levels and the archives, afraid he wouldn't be able to keep lying any longer, much less not burst out laughing at Owen's ineptitude at seeing what was plainly obvious to everybody else. 'Beers are in the fridge. Help yourself.' He'd need something a lot stronger when Tosh finally broke news to him.
