Summary: Ianto's tenure as leader is not off to a great start. A double drabble.
Alarms were going off all over the place. Emergency lighting flashed in alternating shades of bright white and blood red. The computer screens should have been feeding Ianto warnings from every available screen but they were totally blank and unresponsive. That was never a good sign. One thing Torchwood's computers were very good at was notifying you that the world was ending.
'Ianto, we've got a situation,' Jack said, looking out uncharacteristically out of breath.
'Tell me something I don't know!' Wasn't that much obvious? This was one of those moments when he really needed Tosh here, working away at the problem like it was no big deal. Had they been hacked? Was it some kind of massive electromagnetic pulse? Christ. He'd only been in charge five whole minutes. Why couldn't this have happened on Jack's watch?
"Lockdown sequence in progress," the deep-voiced mainframe system announced.
'What?' Ianto exclaimed.
'What did you do?' Jack asked.
'I didn't do anything! Everything was totally normal and then it all just went haywire.'
Jack looked like he was about to say something but then the alarms ceased wailing, lights stopped flashing and the whole hub was plunged into darkness.
'Well, that's just great.'
