Summary: Jack has a surprise for Greg. A double drabble.
Greg Bishop jogged after Jack's silhouette, struggling to make him out in the darkened sewer. He followed the splashing sounds of Jack's boots, feeling his own shoes soaked through. This was not Greg's idea of romantic, if such a thing existed. He hated feeling so drawn to Jack but he wouldn't ever stop running after him. Never.
'You haven't told me what we're in such a hurry for!' Greg called, hearing his voice echo.
'Shh!' Jack's boots came to a stop and he twirled to face his companion. Keep your voice down. 'We're getting close now.'
'Close to what?' Greg hissed.
'Weevil nest,' Jack replied. 'Now, come on. Hurry.'
'Christ,' Greg swore, running after him again. Jack was mad. They should be running away, not running towards.
He went to grab for Jack, but Jack grabbed him first, halting his motion. 'Shh!' He peered around the corner. 'Just watch.'
There must have been a half dozen weevils, all keening and growling. At the centre though was a single weevil. It was…
'Is that a baby weevil?' Greg whispered.
Jack grinned. 'Now there's something you won't see every day. Had a hunch she was pregnant when I caught her last week.'
