Summary: Owen and Tosh are having trouble finding something. A double drabble.
'It's not here anywhere,' Owen grumbled, flashing his torch around even though it was mostly daylight. He carried it only to use it in the areas of the park where the pale sunlight couldn't fight its way through the thick trees.
'It's definitely here somewhere,' Tosh argued back. 'The rift energy signatures don't lie.'
'Yeah, well it might have wandered off, whatever it is.' That's what Owen hated most. Organic life forms that decided to bugger off before any of them got here. Like their job wasn't hard enough some days.
'Just let's keep looking a while longer,' Tosh implored. They both knew Jack would only be annoyed if they came back empty-handed.
Owen sighed and stared around. 'If I was a stupid alien, where would I be?' His eyes landed on a fallen tree by the edge of the river. It looked ancient. Owen walked around and knelt down by the end, finding it dark and hollow. Inside though was something that glowed with three tiny eyes. Last he'd checked squirrels only had two eyes, and they didn't glow.
'Found it, Tosh,' he called out. 'Now, if I stick my hand in there, just promise you won't bite me.'
