Summary: Assessing alien artefacts isn't always straightforward. A double drabble.
'Got it!' Ianto called out, attracting Gwen's attention as they'd been wandering around the parking lot behind a fish and chip shop.
'Thank God. The smell of all those fried chips was driving me crazy. I thought we'd have to cut our search short and break for two pounds fifty worth.'
'We still can,' he replied, thinking chips sounded like an excellent idea. 'It looks like an abandoned game of jenga,' he mused, confirming the find was soaked in residual rift radiation.
Gwen didn't disagree with his assessment, though it also looked like it had taken a fairly rough ride through the rift if it had been stolen from the 1990s.' So much for Jack's whizz bang technology suggesting we were dealing with an organic life form.'
'You are,' Jack said, suddenly appearing behind them, coat catching in the breeze as they hunched over the find.
Ianto snorted. 'Rubbish. Just look at it. It's a failed high school woodworking project.'
'It's a plant actually,' Jack corrected him. 'Genetically modified to produce only geometric growth.' He shrugged before they could ask. 'It was all the rage for a while. Like shag pile carpet and olive green bathroom tiles.'
'If you insist.'
