Summary: Owen and Suzie's investigations are slowing the rest of the team down. A double drabble.
Jack and Tosh met up as they'd searched around the perimeter of the rift activity, checking for signs that their quarry had moved on. 'Did you conclude the same as me, Tosh?' Jack asked, flipping the cover back on his wrist strap.
'That whatever it was caught the next rift taxi out of here? Yeah.'
Jack blew out a breath. 'Looks like we got lucky. Judging by that initial burst of rift energy it was something big. Didn't fancy having to chase that all over the city.'
'Maybe it had the ability to control the rift and plotted a course home,' Tosh speculated.
Jack shrugged. 'Not really our worry now, is it? Looks like we get the night off.'
The pair of them tracked back to where Suzie and Owen were knelt in the grass. 'Let's go home,' Jack announced.
'Can't,' Suzie replied. 'Not yet, anyway.'
'Why not?'
'Waiting for this thing to dry and go solid,' she said, pointing to a lump of bright white plaster sitting in a strange looking hole. 'Footprint, we think. Owen's idea to take a mould.'
'Oi, you agreed.'
'How long?' Jack asked.
'Maybe an hour?'
Jack sighed. So much for the night off.
