Summary: Owen's research projects are somewhat controversial. A double drabble.
Jack leaned against the cell door and studied the bizarre sight. 'I know I used to think you were mental, but now I'm pretty sure it's confirmed,' he told Owen.
'You're not the first to say it and it wasn't funny when Teaboy and Gwen said it either.'
'Well, you know what they say about safety in numbers…'
'Shut up. This is important research,' Owen said, scowling at Jack and flipping through a file full of papers. 'You were the one who wanted us to find out as much as we could about weevil behaviour.'
Jack quirked an eyebrow at him. 'I know. But this…' He gesticulated at the weevil in the cell playing with a doll and brushing its hair with a clawed hand, getting it tangled in the woollen threads. Jack reached down into the box at their feet and pulled out a plastic dog. 'Playing with toys? Really?'
Owen snatched it back. 'It's analysing their maternal instincts. You'd rather I stick a kitten in there and see what happens? Don't know about you but I'd rather we didn't have Animal Protection on our backs.'
Jack grinned. 'What do you reckon they'd say to us keeping weevils captive?'
