Summary: Owen's morning routine no longer has the same impact. A double drabble.

Owen loved running. Everyone at the hub thought he was a lazy bugger whose most important relationship was the one he had with his sofa. They didn't picture him getting up at six to pound the pavement from his flat to the barrage and back.

At least he used to love running - back when he'd been alive. Back then running had been a way to take his mind off things, or perhaps to focus his thoughts on a single problem without any other distraction. He loved the way he started out gasping for breath before finding his rhythm and learning to live with the puffing. He liked the way it made his calves ache and his side cramp up until he could run off both forms of pain, leveling out into a oneness with the physical strain he was putting his body under.

Not anymore though. Dead men didn't get ragged breath from the exertion, or feel any muscular ache from pushing their body to its limits. He could run all day and night and never feel tired, nor experience the distraction from his mind which was still very much ticking over in death as it had been in life.
