Summary: Jack has to reconcile with what Torchwood does to people he cares about. A double drabble.
Jack forced himself to look at the body as the wailing sirens of emergency vehicles closed in around him. Right now, there wasn't time for him to be thinking about how they'd react to the scene. He just needed to reconcile it for himself first.
Suzie's blood was pooling underneath her, staining the dock in a deep red colour. He'd seen it once before, though this time he'd been the one who'd pulled the trigger - not once, but a half dozen times. She just wouldn't die. She had Gwen's life force keeping her alive, and had very nearly made it to the ferry, escaping with her life whilst Gwen lay dead and dying on the dock.
Would Torchwood ever stop corrupting the people who worked for it? Jack had seen it too many times to count. He wondered how much longer it would be until it corrupted him. Perhaps Alex Hopkins had been right to kill his team and put an end to Torchwood.
He looked back over his shoulder where Owen was cradling Gwen, shaken but still mercifully alive. No, it hadn't corrupted all of them. They were good people who sacrificed everything, trying to do the right thing.
